Whales and dolphin sites on the Internet seem to be grouped into a large number of introductory sites and a few other sites. You'll find little information, for example on river dolphins or beaked whales.

Smithsonian Istitution

A list of reading material covering whales and dolphins. The popular category provides several references for young children and although technical errors do occur in some of the texts, they are not of sufficient magnitude to warrant exclusion. The publications cited are not available from the Smithsonian Institution. They can be obtained from most large public libraries or can be requested through an interlibrary loan. Many are currently in print and can be ordered from local bookstores.

Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network

Besides beach salvage and aiding live stranded animals, the TMMSN has also taken on a public education role. Since 1990, the TMMSN has expanded many of its public education capabilities.

Marine Mammal Stranding Center Home Page

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is a private non-profit organization based in Brigantine, New Jersey.Since the Center's founding in 1978, it has responded to over 1500 calls for stranded whales, dolphins, seals, and sea turtles that washed ashore on New Jersey beaches. These animals range from a 5 lb. Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle to a 25 ton Humpback whale (both of which are endangered species).
